[Background]
Here for the general series. Mitsunari is too obscure so here’s a brief background:
Mitsunari hates Ieyasu. Mitsunari wants Ieyasu to stop being dumb. Mitsunari insults Ieyasu a lot over tea. Sekigahara hasn’t happened yetwhich is good because otherwise he’d be lacking in a head. Mitsunari is building an army with which to oppose Ieyasu.
Yes pretty much. He's a minor character in an ongoing series, sorry. |D;;
[Personality]
Mitsunari Ishida of Brave 10 fame can be described in few words as a gossipy fabulous tea-drinker.
Most of the series he spends with soft-spoken gatherings, speaking with other daimyo over a cup of tea.
But of course, this is far from all there is to him. The fact is that Mitsunari is a shrewd customer, quick on the uptake, quick to read the undertones of politics and quick to make his own decisions based on those. It is Mitsunari who first warns Yukimura that a plot is afoot, and it is Mitsunari who visits Yukimura to set up what he knows he will need in the upcoming war that he knows is brewing. He’s sharp, unhesitantly making use of what he can to his advantage whenever he gets the chance—
But he’s also not a cold manipulator.
Mitsunari is extremely loyal—to his friends, to his cause, and to the dead Toyotomi and the remnants of his lord. It is talk of the Toyotomi that infuriates him most—because he will give and do anything to stop the Toyotomi from disappearing. It is clear that his most important thing continues to be the lord he served and the faction he now leads; that is, in fact, the main thing he is fighting for. He bemoans, in fact, the way that they can’t overturn the world in some sort of chaos, because at least in that way the Toyotomi would have a great chance of survival. Yukimura is quick to scold the nonsensical wish, but it’s clear that the Toyotomi are Mitsunari’s most emotional trigger point.
Of course, as seems to be a necessary Mitsunari trait, he is very honest and also rather to-the-point; it can be insulting at times, though he usually delivers that with a grin and a laugh ("You look like an idiot, Sanada Yukimura!"). But he is always careful to gauge the atmosphere when it is possible that such honesty would be better kept to himself. Still, while he may keep things to himself, he will not lie.
It isn’t difficult to get his loyalty either. Mitsunari is the friendly sort, easy to talk to and pleased to speak in turn. He doesn’t tend to mask things; when he’s pleased he smiles. When he isn’t, he glares.
(Around Ieyasu, he is often glaring, unsurprisingly, as Ieyasu is aiming to wipe out the Toyotomi and unite the country.)
But he performs the role that is expected of him for the time. In other words, when Ieyasu sends him an invitation to a gathering, he goes of course, despite the fact that he hates the man’s guts. That’s because he is expected to; to not go would be a political snub and he knows it. In other words, a great number of Mitsunari’s actions are logical before emotional; he’s attuned to what needs to be done far before what he wants to do.
Despite all of this, Mitsunari is generally kindhearted. He has a good sense of humor, laughing freely (usually at other people--), and is basically, well…chatty. As said before, he’s soft-spoken as well; he’s a gentle person, and it’s clear that he really doesn’t want war. He speaks of Ieyasu “pushing him into a corner”, forcing him into a fight. He would rather anything but—but when it comes to the Toyotomi being wiped out, Mitsunari sacrifices his peaceful nature in order to defend the Toyotomi, which he is loyal to even over his own nature.
[Specialties/Abilities] PRESUMABLY THEY EXIST BUT IDK MAN. I D K. LOOK HE'S GOT A SWORD. Aka in an anime/manga about badassery, he's pretty much badass normal at best.
But he is a samurai and he does have a sword; I would not doubt he very much knows how to use it competently.
[Affection] If he's the one initiating the affection, he is fine with it. Otherwise, he is gentlemanly distanced. If someone takes him off-guard and invades his personal space, he'll likely not take it well unless he knows the person well. It takes a good deal to fluster him, but he's not against making sharp comments to get people away.
[Fighting] I am absolutely up for any direction any thread takes! Contact me if you're not sure, but I'll like as not say yes.
